Aleka sat atop the tower looking out over the city, the night wind chilling to the touch. He breathed in calmly, cradling the lit torch in his lap. A faint scream came with the wind and he jump to action. Sliding down the side of the tower torch still in hand. The slanted legs to the tower allowed him to continue moving rapidly towards his destination.
When he reached the area the scream had came from he found a Voidling standing over the young woman it had recently killed. Aleka looked over to the girl.
"I'm sorry that i couldn't save you," he said sincerely, "but i will most certainly avenge you." The Voidling reached out to slice him with its sharp tendrils but he flipped out of reach. He swung the torch, opening a hole in space to the void where a beam of energy shot out, blowing off one of the Voidlings tendrils.
The Voidling rushed again with sharp claws but Aleka quickly batted them away with the torch, striking the creatures face twice with the flame. He quickly opened another rift thatshpt a beam through the creatures chest.
The Voidling's skin began to swirl around a glowing red orb that replaced where it had been. Aleka stuck the torch in the ground and opened another rift. He grabbed the red orb and threw it into the Void, closing the rift immediately. He turned his focus back to the woman but she was gone. He searched around but found nothing. A fowl howl came with the next gust of wind and he looked up. On top of the adjacent rooftop he saw a shadowed figure holding the woman.
The figure of the man stood there looking at him, watching him. In its eyes he could see the same mark that was carved into both his parents skin on the days they were murdered. He remembered the shade from that day, the mark was not in its eyes but on the back of its hand. He knew it wasn't the same entity, but perhaps it knew where he was. Before he could speak to it, the figure disappeared.
Aleka Pulled his torch out of the ground and began to walk back to the tower. The sun barely coming over the sides of the buildings behind him. It stung when it hit his skin but he had learned to be able to ignore it.
